The Governments of Australia and New Zealand
continue to invest in the operational evaluation,
trialling and acquisition of the latest autonomous
unmanned systems (UAV, UUV, USV) for roles
in defence, mine countermeasures, maritime and
coastal surveillance, infrastructure security, as well
as law enforcement, disaster recovery, fisheries,
meteorological/geophysical surveys and remote
sensing.
In response, Maritime Australia Limited has
organised an Autonomous Unmanned Systems
Pavilion and associated Symposium at the PACIFIC
2008 International Maritime Exposition.
The AUS specific pavilion and symposium will
provide SMEs and larger companies, involved in
or supporting the unmanned systems sector, with a
unique opportunity to showcase and present their
autonomous and unmanned technologies, products
and capabilities to potential customers through a
dedicated exhibition and conference venue.

Call for Papers
Maritime Australia Limited invites interested exhibitors to submit abstracts of papers to be considered for presentation at the PACIFIC 2008 Autonomous Unmanned Systems Symposium.
The Autonomous Unmanned Systems Symposium will focus on the latest developments, capabilities and maritime applications of UAV, USV and UUV systems launched from land, ships and aircraft , and operating in marine, estuarine and litt oral environs.
The AUS Symposium allows PACIFIC 2008 exhibitors from the commercial, government and academic sectors to present the latest developments and capabilities of autonomous unmanned technologies and products used for maritime roles including, but not limited to:
- R&D activity and advances in AUS products, materials, autonomy and systems engineering, etc
- international standards and regulations for the safe operation of AUS within non-segregated airspace, maritime and terrain environs
- AUS situational awareness and separation technologies
- common interface and control stations for various unmanned systems operating either individually or in an interoperable/ networked situation
- military and civil operational deployments and experiences
- motion detection and target tracking technologies
- IED and gas detection and mine counter measures

Abstract Submission Process
- abstracts must be submitted here
- abstracts of the proposed papers are to be about 150 words in length
- the abstract should include an overview of the presenting organisation and a summary of the main issues and conclusions of the paper. This will assist in the selection of papers most relevant to the theme of the AUS Symposium
- time allocations for papers will be 30 minutes including questions and answers
- abstract submission deadline is Friday 12th October 2007
- selection notifi cation will be made between 22 October and 24 November 2007
- symposium program will be released in December 2007
